New Hope in Old Holy Cross

It all began with an idea. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in August 2005 & the flooding of New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward (& the historic Holy Cross Neighborhood), residents still faced daunting clean-up of their homes, businesses & churches more than 2 1/2 years later. Historic Green’s founders got to know the residents of Holy Cross & learn their stories of coming home & rebuilding, touring every part of the neighborhood for month after month - finally deciding to hold our first Spring Greening event in March 2008.
